Top 5 Coloring Tips

Hey Curious Coloring Fans! Thanks for stopping by our little creative corner of the internet 😃 We are here to share a few coloring tips you can implement into your daily, weekly, or monthly coloring routine! 🖍️

I can’t even tell you how many people come to me and say “Monica, coloring has such a calming effect on me. It’s like therapy!” It can really do wonders for you emotionally and creatively.

Without further ado here are your tips:

  1. Create a peaceful environment. We recommend finding a quiet place in your home, putting on your favorite playlist, and lighting a candle. Ambiance is everything. If you place yourself in the middle of your children’s play room . . . odds are you are going to be dodging toys and screaming children at some point. We suggest carving out a little “Me” time in the evening to unwind with a glass of wine and your favorite coloring book.

  2. Choose a coloring page that sparks joy. I always gravitate toward pages that make me laugh or have a special meaning. To create your own custom coloring book or pages CLICK HERE!

  3. Take your time! Don't rush your creative genius - it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. Take your time to create your best work.

  4. It’s important to hold your colored pencil in the proper position to avoid wrist/hand agitation. If you want to create a lighter stroke, grip the pencil farther from its base. This is the ideal coloring position. The goal is to start lightly and build color as you go. If you are looking to make bolder strokes, grip the pencil closer to the base.

  5. Practice - the only way to get better at coloring is to practice! Coloring was a huge hobby of mine even before starting my own custom coloring book business. In the beginning stages, I was TERRIBLE! After over a decade of incorporating coloring into my weekly routine, I consider myself a coloring aficionado. :-)

The team could not have been any more helpful, thorough, professional, and generous with their time. They helped to make sure every page in the book was right, legal, and exactly how I wanted it. They even offered improvements on my initial ideas that I loved! Brandon followed the project through to completion, even chatting with me several times on a Saturday morning to make sure we got it to the printer in time to allow for delivery before my drop-dead date. It was a pleasure interacting with him every time - I truly started to feel like we were old friends!

Client Spotlight on Centre College, Admissions Office

Our client, Centre College, Admissions Office, is a small, private liberal arts college in central Kentucky that has been around for 200 years. Their mission is to prepare students for lives of learning, leadership, and service- and they celebrated their bicentennial in 2019!

The folks at Centre College commissioned their Custom Coloring Books because with the shift to social distancing, the office team knew that they would need to find creative ways to bring the Centre story to prospective students. Adriana Martin says, “We knew that we would no longer be able to bring students to campus, so we wanted a fun way to bring the campus to them!”

The goal of the coloring book was to make Centre College come alive for the prospective students, while also telling the Centre story. Our team worked directly with the college to create something for students that allowed them to experience Centre from afar, that felt personal enough for them to picture themselves at Centre, and that let them start thinking about the ways in which they could “leave their mark” on the campus community.

Client Spotlight on Provation Medical

Our client, Provation Medical, commissioned their Custom Coloring Books to give away at trade shows and events that they attend- including job fairs, user training sessions, and Colon Cancer Coalition’s Twin Cities Get Your Rear in Gear – Tour de Tush event.

These coloring books were specifically created for healthcare professionals, such as Doctors, nurses, healthcare administrators, healthcare executives. Nurses (women, specifically) LOVED the coloring book, according to Provation. Many of the recipients took a book for their children or grandchildren.

Client Spotlight on Whitney Cook with Compass

Here's Whitney Cook handing out her coloring books to local residents !

Our client Whitney from Compass, North Texas commissioned her Custom Coloring Books for a community event, and to say that they were a hit would be a massive understatement!

According to Whitney, the response to her books is incredible- In only 36 hours she passed out nearly 500 coloring books! There are only about 1500 households in her community so this was a major reach for her. Whitney told us that she is sure that she could have never gotten such a positive response with just a generic mailer.

Even now, Whitney has folks sending her pictures of their kids' coloring pages, and they have told her that they used the coloring books as stocking stuffers. Some parents are even saving copies of the books in memory boxes.

Whitney also sent us a sweet testimonial: “You have given me a huge foot in the door of my community in which I would love to be the go to realtor. This is something I can take and expand into annual community coloring books, coloring contests, and so much more.”

Through the talent of our illustrators and the original concept by Whitney, we were able to help her grow her business and bring happiness to the community which she loves so much!

I've seen these kinds of results over and over again for realtors who use our custom coloring books to promote their business.
