Top 5 Coloring Tips

Hey Curious Coloring Fans! Thanks for stopping by our little creative corner of the internet 😃 We are here to share a few coloring tips you can implement into your daily, weekly, or monthly coloring routine! 🖍️

I can’t even tell you how many people come to me and say “Monica, coloring has such a calming effect on me. It’s like therapy!” It can really do wonders for you emotionally and creatively.

Without further ado here are your tips:

  1. Create a peaceful environment. We recommend finding a quiet place in your home, putting on your favorite playlist, and lighting a candle. Ambiance is everything. If you place yourself in the middle of your children’s play room . . . odds are you are going to be dodging toys and screaming children at some point. We suggest carving out a little “Me” time in the evening to unwind with a glass of wine and your favorite coloring book.

  2. Choose a coloring page that sparks joy. I always gravitate toward pages that make me laugh or have a special meaning. To create your own custom coloring book or pages CLICK HERE!

  3. Take your time! Don't rush your creative genius - it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. Take your time to create your best work.

  4. It’s important to hold your colored pencil in the proper position to avoid wrist/hand agitation. If you want to create a lighter stroke, grip the pencil farther from its base. This is the ideal coloring position. The goal is to start lightly and build color as you go. If you are looking to make bolder strokes, grip the pencil closer to the base.

  5. Practice - the only way to get better at coloring is to practice! Coloring was a huge hobby of mine even before starting my own custom coloring book business. In the beginning stages, I was TERRIBLE! After over a decade of incorporating coloring into my weekly routine, I consider myself a coloring aficionado. :-)
