In Support of BLM and Pride Month

On March 18th, 2020 my wife and I welcomed our first child into the world.

And what a world it is.

Since his birth we’ve experienced an all-consuming virus that has kept our country and the world in quarantine for going on three months. We’ve seen and felt the horrors of racism in America. And the LGBTQ+ community is facing continued challenges due to current administration.

This is NOT the America I want my son to grow up in.

As I walk the streets of my neighborhood I see a mix of Black Lives Matter signs, Pride flags, Thank You Essential Worker Signs, and more. And it warms my heart to see our community supporting these important messages. Small actions, like the signs we put in our windows, can make an impact on those around us.

So, as one small way to help contribute to the essential message that the Black Lives Matter movement stands for, and in honor of LGBTQ+ Pride month, I’ve created two new coloring pages designed to be printed, colored, and if you feel comfortable . . . posted in your window for all to see where you stand.

As a woman and LGBTQ+ owned business, I thank you for your support this Pride month and every month.

Client Spotlight on Beth Brody with Compass

My client Beth from Compass, Downtown Mill Valley came to me looking for a branded coloring book. She’s on a mission to help people find their place in the world and hasbeen helping people for over 4 decades find their dream home.

She decided to create a custom coloring book because she want to showcase her passion for dogs and create something the children who visit would find fun and parents would find informative. Also she does dog rescue and an adoption events every year and she wanted to tie in one of the locations.

When asked how she came up with the concept for her coloring book, she said, “I wanted clients to be able to find all the dog friendly places in town, with pictures and maps and we created a fun story for both the parents and children to enjoy. My daughter got a new puppy and I decided to tell the story from his perspective while he visited all the places in my book.”

Beth said that people love the book!!!!!

Client Spotlight on Camp Campions

camp champion

Recently, I sat down with my client Erec from Camp Champions to learn a little more about their camp and how the decided to use their custom coloring books.

Camp Champion’s mission is to help every camper grow into the Champion that he or she is intended to be.

Th camp was founded in 1967. and they’re looking forward to our 54th summer of camp in the Texas Hill Country. We believe in the transformational power of a quality summer camp experience. First and foremost, our focus in on helping parents build strong kids.

When asked why they decided to create a custom coloring book, Erec said, “We thought that the coloring book would help prospective campers imagine what camp might be like, and for returning campers to enjoy their camp memories during the school year. We are loving it so far! We spend all year finding new ways for campers to take camp home with them, and this idea fit right in with that ongoing goal.”

He said they take lots of photos every summer at camp, so the hard part was choosing which photos NOT to include. They ended up with a fun array of photos covering lots of different camp activities and age groups.

When asked how people are responding to the custom coloring books, Erec replied, “They love it! The coloring book was a great fit for us and our audience. If you are looking for a fun way to showcase your business, we'd certainly recommend working with Curious Custom.”

Client Spotlight on The Crawford Hotel

IMG_4895.jpg

The Crawford Hotel recently commissioned a custom coloring book for kids that visit the hotel, and I asked them a few questions about their experience. They said:

Our station was originally build in 1881, so there is a lot of history here. It has always been an active train station but with the development of Planes and Automobiles the demand for locomotives quickly declined. Dana Crawford, the namesake for the Hotel, decided the building was significant enough to preserve. She banded together with other local companies to raise funds and renovate the building to include a 112 room hotel and about 12 additional bars and restaurants. Because of her, the building and community are thriving!

Our Camp Crawford program for kids needed a little upgrade. Our unique property is popular among business travelers and those celebrating birthday and anniversaries, so we wanted to create something family friendly.

We wanted to go for an "Eloise at Christmas" idea. We have this big beautiful building, full of life, that we wanted the children staying with us to interact with, so we created the idea of a scavenger hunt so they can run around the station.

We chose certain pictures that are obvious and would make the scavenger hunt easy for kids. We are SO excited about them! Families with small children are huge fans and love that there is an activity included in the coloring book.

Client Spotlight on Long Ridge Camp

I recently spoke with my client from Long Ridge Camp about his experience working with Curious Custom to create their custom camp coloring book.

Camp Long Ridge Traditional day camp focusing on the whole child - sports, arts and adventure activities with a core of swimming instruction.  Established in 1962 Herm and Myrna Alswanger.  Each had an independent dream of having their own camp.   Within a year of marrying they opened Long Ridge Camp.

They decided to create a custom coloring book because they wanted a fun way to memorialize aspects of the Camp. They centered on selecting iconic camp areas and then creating activity around those areas.

They are planning to release the books this summer at a camp event as a surprise!

When asked how it was to work with Curious Custom, he said, “Monica was the perfect partner to work with.   She was patient and instructive and wanted to get each shot "right"!
